¿Es la semilla de origen local el mejor material genético para efectos de restauración?

Resumen

Se cuestiona el paradigma de que las semillas de origen local son la mejor alternativa para efectos de restauración. Al respecto, se describen situaciones en que el uso de semillas foráneas o mezclas de semillas locales y foráneas resultan opciones más adecuadas que el mero uso de semilla local. Se plantea que estas consideraciones contribuirán a mejorar la selección del origen de las semillas utilizadas para plantaciones de restauración, permitiendo así mejorar el grado de éxito de estas iniciativas.
